Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Under minimal supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures with radioisotope and radiation detection methods. Leads clinical and ancillary Nuclear Medicine Staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Executes advanced clinical competence in nuclear medicine technology, in all locations across all patient types. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and adjunctive medications in order to perform patient imaging procedures using nuclear medicine instrumentation. Processes data and enhances digital images using advanced computer technology. Provides images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation. Selects accurate technical factors and appropriateness on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
  • Leads clinical and ancillary staff of the Nuclear Medicine Department and facilitates a productive workflow for efficient department operations. Maintains inventory of departmental supplies.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  • Graduation with a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), required.
  • Bachelor Degree in Health Sciences or related field, required.
  • Minimum of 3 years Nuclear Medicine experience, required.
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (N) and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT), required.
  • Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NCT and/or PET, required.
  • Approval letter from the State of MD Board to operate a CT/Nuclear Medicine Device or ARRT (CT), required.
  • Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist - State of MD, required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification, required.
  • Supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Licensed Radiography (state of Maryland), preferred.
