Position Summary:

Seeking experienced, ARRT certified Mammographer that exhibits compassion, empathy, highly exceptional customer service skills and great attention to detail. PRN needed to cover sick, vacation, vacancies and in times of high work volume.

Provide health care services, applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of breast disease in humans. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.Accountability:

PATIENT CARE - Assume care for physical needs of the patient during examinations and procedures

OBSERVATION - Observe patient and equipment during procedures; document patient reactions or problems on requisition and report immediately to supervisor

X-RAY - Follow prescribed techniques to administer general and specific x-rays; adjust equipment; calculate exposure factors, position and immobilize patients as necessary, use appropriate lead shielding

EXAM - Understand methods and provide or assist with physical breast inspection or palpitation

PATIENT EDUCATION - Provide patient education when necessary, including breast self examination techniques

QUALITY - Assume responsibility for portions of the quality control programs and provide instruction as required

EQUIPMENT - Operate imaging equipment, computer and other assistive devices according to department standards

SAFETY - Provide protection to patients, family members, staff in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards and ALARA

CONTRAST MEDIA - Prepare and administer contrast media/agents

IMAGING - Assist physician with imaging process; follow Radiology protocols

CLINICAL EDUCATION - Instruct specific units of didactic and/or clinical education as required to students, clinical staff and residents

PATIENT ASSISTANCE - Assist in reception area, scheduling office and/or film library; aid patients and transport them, as necessary

SUPPLIES - Clean assigned area; maintain stock supply levels through inventory control and requisitioning

ADMINISTRATION - Perform various administrative functions such as monitoring expenditures and preparing reports and correspondence; may participate in a variety of research projects to develop service plans; may propose changes to program policies and procedures

FLOAT - May be required to float to another work assignment/area

DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes

PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk

PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner

PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Education Requirements:

Comm on Allied Health and Accred (AMA), or accred ED pgm

Experience Requirements:

1/2 year (6 months) directly related experience

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (Radiography)

ARRT- M Certificate in Mammography registry within 12 months of position

NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program Licensure(formerly RTC)

CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position

Education Requirements - Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline

Experience Requirements - Preferred:

1 year directly related experience

Bilingual English/Spanish

Physical Demands Requirements:

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.

Testing Requirements:

Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required

Working Conditions Requirements:

Med Haz: Dirt, dust, fumes, odors, bad weather, noise

May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends

May be required or is required to perform on-call duties

May be required to perform subordinate tasks in high census/vol
