Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time academic Cardiothoracic Radiologist to join Vancouver Imaging, a dynamic group of 30 academic Radiologists providing general and subspecialty diagnostic along with interventional radiologic services to Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and the University of British Columbia Hospital, in affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC). In addition to being an accredited Level 1 trauma center, VGH is the quaternary care center for the Province of British Columbia for thoracic surgery and lung transplantation.
With two full-time Cardiothoracic Radiologists, the Cardiothoracic Radiology Section has a strong relationship with the Divisions of Respirology, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Pathology. The Section runs a post graduate fellowship program in cardiothoracic imaging, with 3 Fellows annually, and plays a key role in training diagnostic radiology residents, respirology residents and medical students who regularly rotate through the section. The Section is also integral to Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology and Respirology (Interstitial Lung Disease) multidisciplinary meetings and collaboration.
We are seeking an academically oriented Cardiothoracic Radiologist with a strong interest and experience in teaching and research. A focus on high quality clinical work and service is paramount. The Section operates a high-volume clinical practice, involving adult chest radiographs, thoracic and cardiac CTs, and thoracic and cardiac MRIs. The Section performs a robust number of CT guided transthoracic biopsies and pre-operative microcoil localization. It would be an asset to have experience in advanced cardiac imaging.
The candidate must hold an MD degree or equivalent and have completed fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Imaging along with holding full licensure in the Province of British Columbia at the beginning of employment. All applicants must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC). Ideal candidates will have expertise in interpretation of Chest Radiography, Thoracic and Cardiac CT and Cardiothoracic MR. Performing percutaneous interventional procedures (CT guided transthoracic biopsies and microcoil localizations) is a requirement.
Members of the Cardiothoracic Section are expected to participate in other clinical rotations, including the 24/7 Emergency Radiology/Trauma service.
University appointment at UBC will also be granted commensurate with previous academic experience.
VCH and UBC hire on the basis of merit and are committed to employment equity. All qualified persons are encouraged to apply. UBC is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from visible minority group members, women, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. However, Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority.
All applications must be received by November 30, 2021. Interested candidates are asked to submit their letter of intent, curriculum vitae and names of three referees to:
