POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE JAMAICA PLAIN CAMPUS, Radiology Service Line APPLICANTS MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS: RESUME, ARRT CERTIFICATE AND SF50 Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Assignment to this grade level is restricted to those serving as the Assistant Chief Radiologic Technologist at medical facilities with comprehensive and complex radiographic and imaging programs. Employees in these assignments plan and direct the radiologic technology program at active, affiliated medical centers or outpatient clinics, and have full supervisory responsibility for a large staff of nonsupervisory personnel. Functions: The incumbent is responsible for the performance and supervision of the individuals within the department of Radiology. He/she recommends promotions, reassignments or other status changes of assigned personnel. Resolves informal complaints of employees. The incumbent provides direction to personnel in managing their respective sections and offers advice and guidance in handling unique problems. Ensures the monitoring of all activities within the radiology sections and takes appropriate action as required in order to insure their efficient and effective operation. Advises employees of performance requirements and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting these requirements. Holds corrective interviews with employees regarding inadequate performance or conduct. Participates in the management of human resources for the department including selection, promotion, performance appraisal, and award and promotion systems. Regularly sets objectives for self, staff and the department, monitors and evaluates objectives in order to use time effectively and meet deadlines. Deals with the union representatives on matters involving action by an immediate supervisor. Implements provisions of personnel management programs where well established procedures exist such as EEO, career development plans, departmental policy and procedures, award and incentive programs, grievance procedures and safety practices. Directs the in-service training and radiologic student programs; ensures staff maintains a high level of skill and meets at least the minimum level of continuing education required for certification and/or licensure. Conducts monthly staff meetings with staff to exchange information, and discuss policy and procedure changes, safety and medical center issues. Coordinates the integration of the Radiology Department functions with other aspects of overall patient care. Participates in the development/revision, implementation and communication of goals, policies, and standards for the department. Participates in the radiology resident education experience within the department and facilitates the attainment of established residency program objectives. Works with nursing and other clinical supervisors in addressing radiology service issues and to support the maintenance of high quality patient care. Recommends action to the Chief, Technologists and Administrative Officer in regard to equipment purchases, modifications and construction within the department. Provides technical information when requested. Assists in the planning of new construction projects. Direct and controls the purchase and inventory of radiology supplies.
