The incumbent directs assists, oversees, plans and develops activities for the Nuclear Medicine (NM) section for North FL/South Georgia Healthcare System (NF/SG VHS), Diagnostic Imaging Service (DIS). This position works directly under the general direction of the Radiology Administrator and Chief of Service. Serves as direct supervisor (chief) of diverse team of Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine Technologists (NMTs) for the Nuclear Medicine section of Diagnostic Imaging Service at both the Gainesville, Lake City and Jacksonville sites. Assigns, directs and reviews work by NMTs under supervisory authority. Responsible for maximizing department efficiency and monitoring completion of all assigned workload. Identifies areas for improvement and implements actions plans. Oversees time and leave for technologist staff, ensures that minimum staffing levels to maintain productivity are maintained at each site/scanner at all times. Implements employee development programs. Trains employees in Standard Operating Procedures, medical center policies and procedures, new advancement in nuclear medicine technologies and procedures, and local policies. Enforces and implements all applicable policies and procedures. Prepares agendas, presentations and meeting minutes for monthly service meetings. Oversees the radiopharmaceutical dose ordering process. Maintains COR certificate for radiopharmaceutical dose ordering purposes. Ensures all doses are ordered correctly. Ensure all doses ordered reconcile with the contract requirements, seeing that all invoices can be reconciled for payment. Ensures image archival, case editing and image reports of all Nuclear Medicine exams are completed in a high quality and timely manner. Responsible for the maintenance and coordination of repairs of all Medical Imaging/Non-Imaging equipment in areas assigned under supervision. Conducts research for purchasing imaging equipment, ancillary equipment and supplies. Collaborates with DIS leadership in formulating and implementing administrative operations, including department need for space, equipment, and construction. Resolves complaints from customers and staff. Assists in preparation for internal and external review programs, including Joint Commission, CAP, OIG, GAO, Environment of Care, etc. Completes Performance Appraisals and quarterly competencies for all assigned technical staff. Implements corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary action when required. Participates in human resource operations, including interviewing candidates for positions, evaluation of candidates and making recommendations for promotional or employment candidates.
