Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Compured Tomography) performs computerized tomography ofthe head, neck spine, chest and body, These exams are performed without and with the use ofcontrast materials. The purpose ofthese exams is to achieve diagnostic studies to bring about proper diagnosis and treatment, Incumbent will be required to work variable shifts. On-call may be required. lncumbent may be required to work different modalities. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. This announcement will remain open until filled and may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Applicants will be referred to the hiring manager as they are received and this announcement may close without advanced notice. Performs specialized and very difficult computerized tomographic (CT) prccedures in the Radiology Department. These procedures are performed on patients with severe injuries from accidents, patients who will not cooperate due to their mental status, paraplegic and quadriplegic patients who are almost helpless and patients with deformities which make it impossible to use routine techniques and positioning. Confers with radiologist to establish requirement ofnon-standard examinations and determines technical factors. positioning, image sequence, and number and thickness cut ofscans to satisfy the requirements. Evaluates the nature of critical and emergency procedures and rearranges patient priorities to accommodate them. Receives patients and explains the method ofthe procedure; positions patients within the scanner, selects and sets technical factors by accessing computer and responding with inputs that will result in the parameters oftechnical factors, image sequence, slice profiles, etc. Sets up and adjusts accessory equipment required. Maintains required supplies in the work area in a neat and orderly manner. Assures that sterile supplies, contrast material, catheters and other required supplies are adequate and in date. Assures necessary sterile supplies, contrast media, catheters and other required equipment is present and laid out for procedures. Prepares IV solutions, local anesthetics or antispasmodic drugs, such as xylocaine, valium, epinephrine, etc., for administration. Monitors the examination by checking computations, performances and results ofthe selected parameters to obtain the best diagnostic computer generated data and images. Performs clinical analysis ofdata recorded by the computer. Monitors patient during all phases ofthe examination and removes patient from the scan roonr upon completion ofthe examination. Performs technical operation and general technical maintenance ofthe computer, disk drives, console and imaging devices. Assists manufacturer's representative and biomedical engineers in the calibration and trouble shooting ofmalfunctions in all equipment associated with the CT scanner. Establish and monitor quality control programs Maintain files on patient, computer data and technical parameters ofeach examination Coordinate daily schedule and consult with other hospital personnel, physicians, clinical and administrative personnel pertaining to next day and future days availability for patient examinations. Maintain inventory oflab, medical and computer supplies and initiate procedures to replenish stock and to receive stock. Assist in preparation ofprocedure manuals and assist in devising or modifling procedures as necessary Schedules patients for examinations. Enters specific patient data into a computer via the digital keyboard and retrieves patient information from the computer to complete the statistical input. This requires registering the patient and editing examinations in the hospital computer system, technically dispositioning the procedure and transferring CT images to the correct procedure file. Maintains competency levelto perform the requirements ofthis position and to keep abreast of new developments in the health care field. This is acquired through on thejob experience, educational courses, tapes and lectures. Work Schedule: Shift may vary.
