MRI Technologist I

An opportunity exists for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I at Penn State Health - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  The technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of standardized imaging procedures, for setting up and adjusting related equipment and devices, and for maintaining related records under the direction of the Senior Imaging Staff.  We currently have two positions open:  They are a full-time, night-shift position and a part-time evening shift (60 hours biweekly).     

Responsibilities include:

• Performs standardized imaging procedures ensuring accurate imaging as per defined protocols or under the direction of the radiologist/physician
• Ensures proper operation of the equipment safely while maintaining regulatory standards during all procedures
• Explains procedure and preparation to patient. Performs patient imaging by interacting with the patient using professionalism, courtesy, and safety guidelines
• Checks patient’s studies for completeness in the absence of the attending physician
• Maintains the area, supplies, and equipment in a neat, orderly, and prepared manner; performs room and equipment disinfection procedures
• Responsible for daily equipment calibration; reports equipment malfunctions and the need for adjustments and/or repair of equipment
• Trains new technologists on new procedures or new equipment; oversees students, when applicable

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

• Must have MRI registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
