The Jefferson College of Health Professions at Thomas Jefferson University invites applications for the position of Program Coordinator of the Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetic Practice/RDN (MS/RDN) program. This is a developing program that plans to matriculate its first class in the Fall of 2021 on the Center City Philadelphia campus.
In March 2019, the MS/RDN program was recognized by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) as an early adopter demonstration program. The program will proceed through the candidacy process based on ACEND’s Future Education Model Accreditation Standards for Graduate Programs. The program curriculum includes competency-based education that integrates didactic and supervised learning experiences necessary to prepare students for entry-level practice as registered dietitian nutritionists. The Program Coordinator will work with the Program Director in to shape the culture and advancement of the program.
The MS/RDN program will be an integral part of the Jefferson College of Health Professions (JCHP), which also includes Health Sciences programs and the departments of: Counseling and Behavioral Health, Disaster Medicine & Management, Medical Laboratory Sciences & Biotechnology, Midwifery & Women’s Health, Physician Assistant Studies, and Medical Imaging & Radiation Sciences. All programs feature state-of-the-art classrooms and teaching laboratories, a simulation center, as well as an interprofessional education and training center. The programs within JCHP reflect the University’s commitment to educate future healthcare professionals of the highest quality and ethical standards for contemporary practice in the global community. The Program Coordinator will report directly to the Program Director. The Program Coordinator will be highly involved in Supervised Experiential Learning (SEL) site evaluation, stewarding relationships with preceptors, and scheduling SEL rotations for program students. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the organizational aspects of SEL within the MS/RDN program, including: site selection and evaluation; preceptor and student recruitment; affiliation agreement maintenance; rotation schedule development and maintenance; teaching and advising students. The Program Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Program Director to orient and review preceptors; align SEL rotations with professional competencies; monitor and evaluate the students, preceptors/sites, and program. The Program Coordinator will teach and advise within the program.
A master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences or a related field is required. Experience as a preceptor to dietetic interns is preferred. Clinical and management experience within the field are preferred. Current CDR registration and eligibility for licensure as a registered dietitian nutritionist in Pennsylvania are required. The successful applicant should have a minimum of 3 years full-time experience with knowledge of accreditation standards and their implementation; a record of active service/contribution in the educational and/or professional facets of the nutrition field; strong written and oral communication skills; a record of excellence in teaching; and evidence of relevant administrative experience and managerial skills.
