Medical Imaging Consultants (MIC) in Edmonton is recruiting a partnership track pediatric radiologist with subspecialty training in pediatric cardiac imaging. The radiologist will either possess or be eligible for an FRCPC in pediatric radiology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The candidate will work approximately 50% in pediatric imaging and 50% in adult imaging, with a substantial portion of their pediatric time performing and interpreting cardiac imaging, including presentation and discussion of cases with the cardiac sciences clinicians wither in a formal conference setting or informally. As a pediatric radiologist, the successful candidate would also participate in other relevant pediatric consultative functions, such as rounds, journal club, and case reviews. The successful candidate would engage in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in both cardiac sciences and radiology. The radiologist will work in a pediatric hospital setting, adult hospital setting, as well as in community clinics. MIC is a multispecialty group that provides services to multiple hospitals in Edmonton including the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The Stollery Children’s Hospital is a tertiary referral centre and the home of Western Canada’s pediatric transplant (Liver, Heart, Kidney, Islet cell) and cardiac surgery programs. We perform approximately 70,000 pediatric examinations annually at the Stollery. The department is equipped with three multidetector CT scanners, 4 1.5 Tesla MRI’s, a 3 Tesla intra-operative MRI, and a 3 Tesla clinical magnet. The hospital has digital fluoroscopy, scintigraphy, PET-CT, US, and 4 Angio suites. We have ECMO services, and an active maternal-fetal medicine program with fetal MRI. Multiple pediatric subspecialty surgical programs include cardiac, plastics, neurosurgery, ENT, pulmonology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, trauma and urology.
Candidates are eligible for an academic appointment with the University of Alberta. The department has 3 Royal College accredited residencies, including one in pediatric radiology. The department also has 5 fellowship programs including one in pediatric radiology.
Pediatric call is currently shared by 7 pediatric radiologists, with remote access and in-house residents. Full time benefits include 45 vacation days, parking, licensing fees, Royal college fees, AMA membership, CMA membership, and malpractice insurance. Starting date is as soon as possible. The candidate must have an FRCP(Canada) in Diagnostic Radiology with additional recent fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology (minimum 1 year) and Pediatric Cardiac imaging. Training in cardiac MR that meets the full requirements of the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons is required. The radiologist must be fully competent in performing and interpreting all pediatric cardiac MR, and cardiac and vascular CT with an emphasis on congenital heart disease. An ability to interpret cardiac catheterizations would be favourable, but not required. A specific research background is not required, but a willingness to participate in relevant research that is carried out in the cardiac sciences would be viewed favourably. The position entails practice within all aspects of pediatric and adult imaging as well as an opportunity for clinical teaching. Salary will be commensurate with training and experience.
