The Department of Radiology has an opening for a full time Assistant Professor of Pediatric Radiology to join the UTMB Diagnostic Radiology section. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Radiology, and have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Imaging. Applicants should have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, interest in teaching medical students and residents, and an enthusiasm for academic radiology.
The UTMB Radiology Department has state of the art equipment at 4 hospitals, including a new 400+ bed hospital on Galveston Island.
UTMB and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have a combined facility in League City, Texas (halfway between Houston and Galveston). Additionally, UTMB is opening a 200-bed hospital in the Clear Lake area (near NASA Space Center) with full Labor and Delivery as well as Pediatric services.
As our current Pediatric Radiology section director, Dr. Leonard Swischuk, moves to a predominantly teaching role, our new faculty will have the opportunity to develop their own practice and unique clinical expertise. The pediatric imaging volume is robust and continued growth is anticipated, making this position a unique opportunity to build a career and put a personal stamp on our pediatric section.
The Galveston / League City area is a great place to live and work; with a small community feel, yet in close proximity to Houston. UTMB is an excellent place to develop an academic career, and the benefits package is generous. Compensation is based on national benchmarks and individual productivity.
