The Department of Radiology anticipates an opening for a full time Assistant Professor of Pediatric Radiology to join the UTMB Diagnostic Radiology section. Candidates must be certified or board eligible by the American Board of Radiology, and have completed a fellowship in Pediatric Imaging. Applicants should have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, interest in teaching medical students and residents, and an enthusiasm for academic radiology. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in fetal MRI.
Infrastructure in the UTMB Radiology Department includes multiple DR radiography units, Multidetector CT scanners (including a Dual Source/Dual Energy Siemens FLASH 128 clinical unit, a GE HD750 scanner, a GE 64 slice scanner, a GE PET/CT and Siemens SPECT/CT units), and multiple high field MR systems, including two recently installed 3T Siemens units (this includes a 128 RF channel Skyra). UTMB recently completed hospital renovations and the new hospital facility includes a GE Revolution CT scanner for cardiac imaging.
UTMB and The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have a combined facility in League City, Texas (halfway between Houston and Galveston). Additionally, UTMB recently acquired an additional 200 bed hospital in the Clear Lake / League City area (near NASA Johnson Space Center) This hospital has full Labor and Delivery as well as Pediatric services. Due to growth and expansion, the pediatric imaging volume is robust and continued growth is anticipated.
The new faculty member would partner with nationally renowned Dr. Leonard Swischuk, our current Pediatric Radiologist and Pediatric Radiology section director.
The Galveston / League City area is a great place to live and work; with a small community feel, yet in close proximity to Houston. UTMB is an excellent place to develop an academic career, and an excellent benefits package is available. Salary is commensurate with experience.
