Swedish Medical Center is looking for a ResearchScientist \(1\.0 FTE, Day shift\) in Radiation Oncology Research at SwedishFirst Hill in Seattle, WA\.
The position is responsible for the development andimplementation of radiation oncology research activities in the Swedish CancerInstitute \(SCI\) and will serve as a key member of Swedish's Center for AdvancedTargeted Radiotherapy \(CATRT\)\. The research scientist will investigateinnovative techniques to improve the planning and delivery of radiationtherapy\. He/she will also test and implement new technologies anddetermine optimal workflows for the use of these technologies in theclinic\. The results of research studies performed by the ResearchScientist should be published in scientific journals and will be presented atregional and national meetings\.
The SwedishCancer Institute includes four radiation oncology departments in the greaterSeattle area and offers a full range of technologies including CyberKnife,tomotherapy, Gamma Knife, and high dose rate brachytherapy\. In this position you will:
Develops and implements radiation oncology research projects in the Swedish Cancer Institute \(SCI\)\.
Investigates and tests new technologies for the planning and delivery of radiation therapy and determine optimal workflows for clinical adoption of these technologies\.
Prepares manuscripts for submission to scientific journals\.
Participates as needed in the clinical practice of medical physics including chart checks, machine calibrations, and IMRT verifications\.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Ph\.D\. or Doctorate Degree in medical physics, physics, or engineering\.
Must be Board eligible through the American Board of Radiology \(ABR\)\.
Minimum of two years of postdoctoral research in radiation physics or medical physics\.
Experience with computer programming and data analysis\.
Must have a fundamental understanding of scientific method and specialized methods and procedures in area of expertise\.
