The Penn State College of Medicine (PSCOM) invites applications and nominations of an experienced and dynamic academic leader as the Founding Chair, Department of Radiation Oncology. This leader will develop a bold vision and guide the Department as a national leader in medical education, research, clinical care and compassionate service. He/She will be responsible for enhancing the integration of care through multidisciplinary collaboration and supporting Penn State Cancer Institute’s NCI-designation.
As the only medical school and university medical center in central Pennsylvania, PSCOM and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center have played a prominent role in meeting the region’s needs for tertiary and quaternary care services. In December 2017, Penn State Health, the health enterprise, partnered with Highmark Health to facilitate the creation of a value-based, community care network in the region through a combined investment of more than $1 billion over the next three – five years. This opportunity as the inaugural Chair allows a visionary leader to set the blueprint for a world class radiation oncology program, develop services from a strong foundation and leave a lasting legacy.
The successful candidate will be a national leader with a record of academic, research, clinical, and administrative accomplishments. He/She will have the ability to lead faculty while embracing the importance of system integration, quality and financial sustainability.
Candidates must be board-certified and possess qualifications for appointment to Professor at Penn State. Confidential expressions of interest and candidate materials (including a letter of interest and CV) should be submitted via email to the Penn State search consultants.
