The Department of Radiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, has an opening for a full time Assistant Professor of Pediatric Radiology to join the diagnostic radiology section.Candidates must be certified by the American Board of Radiology, have completed a fellowship in pediatric imaging and have excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, demonstrated abilities for teaching and a strong interest or background in academic radiology. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in fetal MRI.Infrastructure in the Radiology Department includes CR and DR radiography units, Multidetector CT scanners (including a Dual Source/Dual Energy Siemens FLASH 128 clinical unit, a GE HD750 scanner, GE 64 slice scanner, GE PET/CT and Siemens SPECT/CT units), and multiple high field MR systems, including two recently installed 3 T Siemens units (including a 128 RF channel Skyra). UTMB just completed a new hospital which contains a GE Revolution CT scanner for cardiac and other imaging. In addition, there is a GE 3T intraoperative MRI available for imaging and research. UTMB is collaborating with MD Anderson cancer center on projects related to cancer screening and diagnosis.The yearly pediatric imaging volume is about 35,000 exams, including cross-sectional imaging, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology plus diagnostic xray and fluoroscopic exams. The clinical pediatric practice is primarily on the mainland and consists of approximately 135,000 ambulatory visits per year.The new faculty would partner with Dr. Leonard Swischuk --our current pediatric radiologist and director of the program.Galveston is a great place to live and work; there is a small community feel, however Houston is in close proximity.
